Re: Shit debuts
Savio’s debut - Man City at home? - was mildly encouraging from what I remember.
Didn’t he kind of set up the winning goal?

Yes. Of course. They would have run around a bit for sure. Professional pride. Reputation.

You're not very good at this.

Re: Shit debuts
I cannot believe anyone hasn't mentioned Scott Minto! He was fucking appalling in his first game - the worst I've seen, although Mipo did run him a good second!

And I was one who really wanted to see him play. Give the youngster a chance, I said. He can't be any worse than Haller, said I.

I got royally cunted off by the usual suspects on here for DARING to suggest that we use a youngster. Well fuck you all, and the horse you rode in on! I got it wrong with Mipo against the Plastic Mancs. But if we didn't play youngsters, like a lot on here would suggest, then we would never have known how good Johnson was, or indeed our erstwhile captain, Rice.

Crassus

Nordtveit was played out of position as a CB in that game. As a defensive midfield player he was OK at Borussia.

Someone must have mentioned Savio

Re: Shit debuts
Debuts by the likes of Titi Camera / Mido/ Benny McCarthy all blend into one but remember they were all awful and got worse.

Rigobert Song was rubbish at first but vaguely recall he got a bit better?

Re: Shit debuts
That Nordveit cunt

20 minutes on a municipal park pitch in central Europe against fuck knows whose stiffs - die was cast, rank fucking useless in every aspect, clear to see

No control, no pace, positionally bereft, could not tackle, could not pass, could not head, could not dribble, could not read the game and thought he was Cruyff reincarnate

Other than that, wonderful, his finest hour was when he fucked off, no doubt signing the desk four times before he found the contract

Tarrico?

Re: Shit debuts
i remember him scoring at home v Cambridge on the last day.

i thought that Millwall draw had ruined us - thanks to him.
one of my favourite west ham sides around that time.

mallard 11:56 Thu Feb 11
Re: Shit debuts
That was his third game, debut was against Tranmere, but never forget the Millwall game, missed a few one on ones.
He only scored four that season

Mipo was absolutely dogshit.

Look at Greenwood, the difference is class is as wide a Jordans cunt.

Re: Shit debuts
was Millwall at home David Speedie's debut??

he had a shocker that day.

Re: Shit debuts
Who was the new striker who came on as a sub, raced to the opposite side of the pitch to challenge for the ball, took the opponent out and got sent off? Not sure he played again but a pretty dramatic debut.

Alex Bunbury 8:48 Wed Feb 10
Re: Shit debuts
Bloody hell the kid got thrown on and it didn’t come off- it’s not a huge issue to me. If he is any good his day will come.

As for shit debuts I can think of a couple of keepers Stephen Bywater v Bradford and Sasa Illic v Everton I think, lost 4-0.

Also how about Ray Atteveld, bad back pass in the cup.

Mido had a shocker and Tarrico’s short lived debut.

Re: Shit debuts
Winston Reid had a pretty horrific start. Yeah because the fraud Grant put him straight in as a RB not a CB.

Vexed do you think a world class striker would of looked good yesterday?

There's no hope for you. Probably the best thing would be for you to take up fishing or something.

Re: Shit debuts
Test of his mettle - he’ll either crumble and fall down the leagues and be at Southend, Dagenham or the O’s within 3 seasons.

Or he can take that hurt and embarrassment from last night to light his fire and realise what he has got to do and then fucking get on and do it.

Last night wasn’t so much a lack of ability but of application- as was so often loudly shouted at UP “come on West Ham, run around” it is the basic requirement.

Hopefully he uses it as fuel and turns into a player for him and us.

Sajmo1 7:05 Wed Feb 10
Re: Shit debuts
Can someone explain me what's he done wrong yesterday because obviously I'm missing it? He had 1 player in the radius of 20m around him the whole time and it was arguably the slowest player on the pitch. It would literally make no difference if we played Martin up front, the outcome would be the same. Baffling

Lily Hammer 6:20 Wed Feb 10
Re: Shit debuts
Christian Dailly scored a great header on his debut. The main problem was that it beat the keeper.....OUR keeper.

Mipo won’t be happy with his performance, but hopefully he gets another chance soon and rights the record to some extent.

For those saying how his being subbed might have ruined his head, I believe Johnson was subbed early once after putting in an awful performance. He was excellent last night, the biggest (only) positive from last night. If Mipo cannot match Johnson’s attitude dealing with failure, then we won’t want him in the club.

He’s not finished unless he chooses to be.

I wish him luck.
